The temperature dropped so fast that everything froze. Posted by Picasa

More branches trapped in the ice. My eye was freezing to my camera. Posted by Picasa

We've had some really crazy weather this week in Ottawa. One day it's freezing, the next day it's pouring rain and then all of a sudden back to freezing again. It all makes for some interesting photo opportunities. Posted by Picasa

He's a few photos of my ever evolving kitchen. When I first moved in. After I painted and Dad changed the floors. This weekend I decided to paint out the wood on my cupboards and add some nice handles from Lee Valley Tools. I think I've seen the same kitchen cupboards in about 90% of the apartments I've been in in the city. I wanted a change. It turned into an inexpensive project that made the kitchen look much more up to date. I still have a bit of work to do. Like cleaning for instance.

I was playing around with the custom white balance settings on my camera today. Ian sent me a nifty little gray card to measure the color (or temperature/tint) of the light. It was nice and sunny in the back yard.

We had a good snowfall overnight. I went out into the courtyard to take some shots of the snow in the trees.

Here is a little project I've been working on.

Susan Cameron asked me to do some drawings of her parents , Ross and Glenda's, childhood homes. She sent me a photo and a photocopy, both not very good. I decided to scan them and fix them up in Photoshop and then I fooled around for quite awhile with different Photoshop techniques. I ended up using a technique that used a watercolor type brush. Laying down the brush strokes was surprisingly allot like real watercolor. I had to be percise and plan what I was doing. I had to erase and start again many times. I finished by printing them on watercolor paper. I'm quite pleased with the results. Here are the before and after images.

Prince.

Taken with my new Canon 50mm/1.8 lens. This shot was taken at 1/40 at f1.8. Not bad for a cheap ( compaired to most) lens.
